Cosmetic Dentistry Vs. Aesthetic Dentistry

The popularity of dental clinics in Bangkok has skyrocketed in the last decade as an influx of foreign tourists look for high quality yet low cost cosmetic dental surgery. Yet the number of treatments and products available to patients can make things seem confusing and they are not sure what will happen once they sit in the dentist’s chair. For example, few people are truly aware that there is a difference between cosmetic and aesthetic dentistry but we are going to explain it to you below.

Cosmetic Dentistry
If you enter a dental clinic in Bangkok looking for a cosmetic surgical procedure, it means you are looking to change the appearance of your smile. In simple terms, cosmetic dentistry refers to a large amount of dental work which is noticeable because it is so significant. Teeth that are a product of a cosmetic surgical procedure will look straight, white and will ensure you have a great smile but it will merely be a reproduction of what you see on the Red Carpet.

Aesthetic Dentistry
In the event that you enter a dental clinic in Bangkok looking for aesthetic dentistry, you should know that only exceptionally skilled dentists such as those we employ at PMDC can carry out these procedures to perfection. Aesthetic dentistry gives you a smile makeover that is tailored to your face and personality and gives you a fabulous natural looking smile. Though you will look amazing, the ‘work’ performed will not be as noticeable as a cosmetic dentistry procedure since it will look natural rather than fake.

At PMDC, we won’t give you a ‘canned’ smile; we will look to bring out the very best in you with a personalised aesthetic dental procedure that helps to boost your self-esteem. If you are looking for a reputable clinic in Bangkok, look no further than PMDC

What Does It Take To Be A Bangkok Dental Professional?

When it comes to choosing a profession many people always seem to shoot for the moon so to speak and want to become astronauts or racing drivers or movie stars. We have all had these dreams as  children and it is only as we grow older and realise that life is not as limitless as we thought that we decide to choose more sensible professions like and IT contractor, a doctor, or, as you have guessed, a dentist.  But what makes a student decide that they want to be a dentist to start with?  A lot of people, students especially, start out wanting to be a doctor or nurse but find that they are unable to for whatever reason such as being unable to cope with the demanding study load and workload.  For this reason this is why many people who wanted to become a doctor decide to go in to dentistry instead.

This is not to say being a dentist is less than being a doctor.  Far from it.  Both the idea of becoming a dentist or doctor leads to a career that is ultimately secure and that is why competition is so fierce to get in to dentistry school and become a Bangkok dental professional.  Studying can be up to four years when it comes to dentistry as there is a lot of work involved both in terms of practical work and learning how to work the tools and techniques as well as diagnosing conditions and performing treatment.  Students will routinely engage in practical sessions, usually with dummies but sometime with live patients to learn about customer care and the experience of dealing with customers and putting them at ease, learning interpersonal skills also which are invaluable when it comes to the dental industry and being able to explain procedures and processes to patients.

Becoming a Bangkok dental profession means that you can then, after graduating, work for a local dentist and then, after a few years, and more experience, set up your own practice if you wish.  A lot of Bangkok dental professionals go through this route once they have graduated but, as said, graduating is not an easy task but it does guarantee you a job at the end of it and that is why many schools of dentistry often have waiting lists and the rivalry to get in is also rather competitive.  However for those who succeed as a Bangkok dental professional then the salary is good also.

This does not mean for those who solely want to be dentists but it also applies to those who wish to be dental nurses or assistants too although the workload for those is not as grueling.  Either way becoming a dental professional in Bangkok can be a very rewarding and satisfying career choice and can lead to further increases in the future also as the technology and techniques of dentistry improve.  It is a very dynamic, challenging and rewarding industry to work in but it is also ultimately very rewarding also.
